“The most important thing in sports photography is anticipation – not where the action is taking place, but where it’s going to take place.”
– Lawrence Schiller
A road to success is through education, sports and well-being. Life at SIBM Hyderabad campus provides ample opportunities for students to excel in curricular as well as extra-curriculars. Apart from the academic activities conducted in the college, the college also focuses on selecting students who will represent the Hyderabad campus by their talent in various sports and participate in competitions hosted by other campuses.
We, the team of Pratibimb – The Photography Club of SIBM – Hyderabad got the golden chance to capture the sports selection process taking place in the campus. The sport events conducted were Football and Volleyball. When it comes to photography, the team had some experience in still photography. But, since this was a sports event, we were cognizant of the challenges of capturing moving objects.
We started with clicking pictures of the teams huddling while deciding their strategies. After the game had started, we all clicked as many pictures as we could in order to capture the right moment but all in vain. All the pictures turned out to be blurry or hazy. Capturing a clear photo was difficult due to the pace of the players. But then, our seniors informed us about the sports mode feature in the camera which simplified the experience. The clarity of the pictures was then undeniably good.
Up until now, photography was only a hobby, not knowing much about how exactly it is done through a professional camera. However, the club provided us with the exposure we needed and we got to learn a lot. Photography has made us resilient and robust and taught us that you can only become better if one has the curiosity to learn.
