1st October 2022
On October 1st, SIBM Hyderabad was transformed into a movie set, but not because a movie was being shot there; rather, it was a Bollywood night. It was a vibrant night organized by Mélange, the organizing committee of SIBM Hyderabad, where all the students were dressed up as their favourite Bollywood characters. There was Sharukh from Chak De India, Geet from Jab We Met, Miss Chandni from Mai Hoon Na, and, of course, Naina from YJHD.
The event started with a few fun games where the audience had to guess the translated Hindi to English Bollywood songs, followed by a melodious performance by Aaroh, the music vertical of Antardhwani, the cultural club. As we all know, Bollywood is incomplete without its award nights, so we conducted an award ceremony that was named “SIMBI Parivar Awards,” in which we had games that tested people’s acting, dancing, and singing skills, all based on Bollywood. A competition for best dressed was held, where the participant’s photos were put up on our Instagram handle, and people had to vote through Instagram for the best dressed. The participants were given a chance to flaunt their outfits on stage through a ramp walk, which was the high point of the event, and everyone loved it.
It was a fun-packed event with delicious food stalls brought by Hashtag, the PR Committee, and all the creative photo booths and prop cards made by Graffiti the Art Club, which was definitely the icing on the cake.
One thing that was special for me on Bollywood night was that I was the anchor for the “SIMBI Parivar awards,” and it was my very first anchoring experience. At first, I was sceptical about whether I could pull that off or not, but once I went up on stage, I gained confidence, and I surprisingly did better than I thought. This event was incredibly special and a total stress-buster for me and my batchmates.
