International Students Day

31st July has always been a very special day for Symbiosis ever since its inception. It marks the birthday of the living legend Prof.  Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, Chancellor and founder of Symbiosis International University. This day signifies the footing of the institution “Symbiosis” which was established keeping in mind the requirements of international students.

Symbiosis shares a deep relation with international students. The very evident motto of Symbiosis “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” means “World is one Family.” The foundation of this institution was paved by an incident in Dr. Mujumdar’s life. As the director of boys hostel of Fergusson College, Dr. Mujumdar saw a girl passing a parcel through the window. He was curious to know what was in the parcel. On inspection, he found that it contained food for a Mauritian student who was suffering from jaundice. That very sight left him disheartened. The episode led to the dawn of the present-day Symbiosis.

Symbiosis provides the platform to cater to the needs of foreign students. The experience of foreign students studying in here is way different when compared to other institutions. Students are well mentored here till they complete their course and are assisted with legal formalities. Their stay and safety is also all very well taken care of.
International Students’ Day is celebrated across all Symbiosis campuses on 31st July every year. SIBM-Hyderabad this year will join in by exhibiting a spectacular cultural event for the international students to give them a feel-at-home experience. The day will also witness a blood donation camp where the students and professors would donate blood for a noble cause.
