When I joined SIBM Hyderabad, I never imagined that within weeks I would be standing on stage, mic in hand, welcoming an audience. My anchoring journey began during the Induction Week, one of the most awaited events of the year. For a fresher stepping into an MBA program, it felt like both an honor and a challenge.
The induction week was not just about orientation; it was about setting the tone for our journey ahead. I still remember the buzz in the auditorium, the excitement of the new batch, and the responsibility I felt to keep the energy alive. Anchoring taught me the importance of spontaneity—no matter how much you prepare, there are always unexpected moments. A missed cue, a technical delay, or an impromptu question from the audience, each of these became opportunities to improvise. The joy came when I saw smiles, laughter, and applause. It was in those moments that I realized the power of communication in creating an atmosphere of connection.
Soon after, I got another opportunity that was anchoring for International Students’ Day. This event was truly special because it celebrated diversity and inclusivity on campus. Students from different backgrounds and cultures came together, and my role was to weave their stories into one narrative. Anchoring that day felt like standing at the crossroads of cultures, giving me a glimpse of the global exposure an MBA promises. The colors, the performances, and the warmth in the air made it unforgettable.
But beyond the stage lights, there were lessons. I learned the value of preparation, the art of engaging with an audience, and most importantly, the confidence to own the stage. Anchoring sharpened my presence of mind and polished my communication skills, qualities that I know will help me not just in future events, but also in my corporate journey.
Looking back, what started as a college opportunity has become a defining memory of my time here. SIBM Hyderabad gave me the stage, but it also gave me the courage to embrace it. As I continue my MBA journey, I look forward to many more moments where I can step out of my comfort zone, connect with people, and find my voice again and again.
