Interning at the Reserve Bank of India has truly been a turning point in my academic and professional
journey. As a finance student, being part of such a prestigious institution has been both an honor and
a dream come true.
This experience has been my first exposure to a professional environment, and every day has brought
new learning. From understanding office culture and etiquette to working on a real-time project under
the guidance of experienced officers, everything has been fresh and eye-opening. What stood out the
most to me was the willingness of RBI professionals to share their knowledge- their insights and
patience have helped me gain clarity on many concepts I had only studied theoretically before.
My role is aligned with that of a research analyst. The project I am working on focuses on cross-border
e-commerce and explores how India can enhance its export potential by adopting global best practices.
The goal is to suggest legal and procedural improvements that could strengthen India’s e-commerce
export ecosystem. Working on this has broadened my perspective and deepened my interest in global
trade and regulatory frameworks.
The learning here is not limited to the technical aspects of finance. It extends to soft skills, discipline,
and an overall sense of responsibility. One of the biggest takeaways from this internship is the value of
continuous learning. Each day, I realize there’s so much more to discover- and that’s what makes this
experience so enriching. It’s not just about completing tasks but understanding the bigger picture and
how your work fits into it.
I feel incredibly grateful to have been given this opportunity. It has not only enhanced my academic
understanding but has also shaped my outlook towards a career in finance.
