As an MBA student, gaining real-world experience is an essential step toward bridging the gap between
academic knowledge and industry practices. I recently began my Summer Internship Program (SIP) at Reliance
Jio in the Human Resources – Training Department, and the journey so far has been nothing short of enriching.
Here’s a glimpse into what I’ve learned during the first two weeks of this exciting experience.
Week 1: Learning the Foundation
Day 1 – Getting Started with the Induction Process (7th April)
My internship began with an in-depth look into the Induction Program. I was tasked with understanding the
induction flow and creating a presentation to help new joiners better understand the process. This assignment
helped me realize the importance of clear and structured onboarding.
Takeaway: A well-crafted induction program sets the tone for the employee experience.
Day 2 – Exploring RFR, VBA & On-the-Job Training (8th April)
On Day 2, I was introduced to the RFR (Ready for Role) process, which must be completed within 15 days.
Alongside this, I began On-the-Job Training (OJT) with my buddy and got a brief overview of VBA (Video
base Assessments). I also contributed creatively by designing a training invite poster.
Takeaway: Exposure to automation tools and internal communication design sharpened both my technical and
creative skills.
Day 3 – Diving into Microsoft Forms (9th April)
I explored Microsoft Forms and its features — question types, customization, themes, and more. I documented
my findings in a step-by-step PPT guide to support other employees in using the tool effectively.
Takeaway: Digital tools can significantly enhance employee learning experiences when used effectively.
Day 4–6 – Understanding the Organizational Framework (10th–12th April)
These days were focused on studying Reliance Jio’s operational framework. I explored divisions like:
- Sales & Distribution
- Home Sales (Enterprise)
- Home Connect
- Network
Additionally, I attended online meetings regarding network architecture and multi-skilling for field engineers. I
compiled my learnings into detailed presentations.
Takeaway: Understanding how departments work together to deliver seamless service is key to supporting
organizational learning goals.
Week 2: Driving Employee Engagement
Day 7 to 12 – Following Up with Employee Batches (14th–19th April)
In the second week, my responsibilities shifted toward employee communication. I was assigned to follow up
with multiple batches of employees to track their training completion status, provide support, and resolve any
issues they were facing.
Every day involved engaging with a new batch — from Batch 1 to Batch 6 — ensuring progress, providing
reminders, and encouraging timely course completion.
Takeaway: Personalized communication and consistent follow-ups are essential for successful training
implementation in large organizations.
Final Thoughts
These first two weeks at Reliance Jio have helped me gain hands-on exposure to the HR Training function.
From understanding onboarding workflows to actively engaging with employees, this internship has already
started shaping my perspective on corporate HR practices.
I’m grateful for the support from my mentors and look forward to the upcoming phases of my SIP journey,
where I aim to learn even more, contribute meaningfully, and grow as a future HR professional
