Spending my summer interning at Deloitte in the Engagement Financial Advisory (EFA)
function was nothing short of transformative. I had the privilege of being part of the
Specialization team, where I was exposed to the intersection of strategy, finance, and
analytics. Each day offered something new—whether it was mastering technical tools or
engaging in insightful conversations with leaders.
The internship kicked off with an engaging ice-breaking session that helped everyone ease
into the corporate environment. It was a refreshing way to connect with fellow interns and set
the tone for a collaborative and supportive experience. Our Buddy Connect session was
another highlight, allowing us to interact with previous interns and current associates who
shared their journeys, tips, and words of encouragement. These conversations gave me a
clearer picture of what to expect and how to make the most of the internship.
The technical learning modules were rigorous yet rewarding. From deep dives into Excel to
exploring Outlook and email etiquette, each session focused on practical skills essential for
day-to-day professional success. One of the most insightful experiences was the Engagement
Economics series, where I learned how Deloitte builds financial models, manages client
pricing, and evaluates project margins. It was eye-opening to see how seemingly small cost or
pricing decisions could ripple across an entire engagement’s profitability.
Midway through the week, we had a team lunch that gave us a chance to unwind, bond
beyond work, and connect with mentors and peers on a more personal level. It reminded me
that culture and people are just as important as performance.
What truly stood out throughout the internship was the leadership connect session, where
leaders like Yuri Crème (EFA Manager) and other RLs shared their journeys and
perspectives. Their stories highlighted the importance of strategic thinking, adaptability, and
purpose in a dynamic consulting environment.
This internship wasn’t just about gaining skills—it was about building confidence,
relationships, and a clearer vision for my future.
