Have you ever heard someone openly declare themselves an introvert? In my 23 years, I’ve encountered only a handful. Growing up, I was one of them—missing out on peer interactions, hesitating to voice my thoughts in class, and shying away from activities I loved. It wasn’t until communication became crucial for my MBA that I realized the toll this had taken on my personal development. The rigorous preparation for my GEPI process was just the beginning. Stepping onto the Symbiosis Hyderabad campus transformed me in ways I never imagined. How did it happen? The first week was all about orientation and meeting new peers. Overwhelmed by the sheer number of introductions, I took it one step at a time, focusing on small talk and remembering names to ease my initial hesitations. I also participated in various committee selection interviews, pushing myself to face public speaking situations. Reaching out to seniors and peers for doubts and concerns helped me self-evaluate and understand how others perceived my interactions. Answering questions and engaging with professors in class further improved my communication skills. Reflecting on my first month, I see how these experiences have already reshaped my social skills and confidence. While there’s still a long way to go, I’m proud of the progress I’ve made. Transitioning from an introvert to taking my first steps towards a more extroverted approach has been challenging yet rewarding.
