The Power of Peer Learning in B-School

When I joined SIBM Hyderabad, I expected to learn from professors, textbooks, and case studies. What I didn’t expect was how much I would learn from the people sitting right next to me.

B-school is filled with individuals from diverse academic backgrounds — engineers, commerce graduates, literature students, professionals with work experience, and freshers like me. Each classroom discussion feels like a mini boardroom where everyone brings a different perspective. Sometimes, a concept that feels complex during a lecture becomes crystal clear after a simple explanation from a classmate.

In Semester 2 especially, I’ve realized how powerful peer learning truly is. Group projects aren’t just about dividing slides and submitting presentations. They’re about understanding how others think, approach problems, and manage pressure. I’ve learned financial shortcuts from one friend, marketing insights from another, and time management hacks from someone who somehow

balances everything effortlessly.

Even outside academics, peer learning plays a huge role. Preparing for internships, practicing mock interviews, participating in case competitions — most of it happens in study rooms, hostel corridors, and over quick coffee breaks. We constantly share resources, exchange feedback, and push each other to do better. It doesn’t feel like competition; it feels like collective growth.

What makes peer learning at SIBM Hyderabad special is the environment. Everyone is ambitious, but also supportive. When someone achieves something, it inspires the rest of us to step up. When someone struggles, there’s always a group ready to help.

For me, MBA isn’t just about mastering subjects — it’s about absorbing ideas from the people around me. Sometimes the best lessons don’t come from a textbook; they come from a late-night discussion, a debate in class, or a casual conversation that changes your perspective.

Looking back, I realize that my growth so far hasn’t been individual — it’s been shared. And that’s the real power of peer learning in B-school.
