This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern in the Learning and Development
(L&D) function of Human Resources at a reputed organization. It was a rewarding experience
that provided both practical exposure and meaningful insights into how organizations invest
in their people to drive performance and long-term success.
L&D is often described as the heart of HR—it supports not only employee growth but also
business evolution by aligning learning initiatives with strategic goals. During my internship, I
experienced this firsthand by being a part of various initiatives that focused on competency
development, leadership building, and employee engagement
Key Projects and Responsibilities
- Mid-Career Intervention Program (MCIP): I was actively involved in the coordination
and planning of this flagship leadership development program aimed at mid-level
professionals. I helped in preparing training content, coordinating logistics, collecting
feedback, and analyzing participant responses - Training Needs Analysis (TNA): Assisted in identifying skill gaps through employee
surveys and past training data, contributing to the planning of relevant training
interventions. - Learning Management System (LMS): Supported in updating training records, tracking
attendance, and generating reports on participation and effectiveness. - Onboarding & Induction Support: Helped enhance the onboarding experience by
assisting in revamping induction modules for new employees. - Feedback Analysis: Compiled and analyzed post-training feedback to assess trainer
effectiveness and content relevance, and proposed improvements.
Each of these tasks gave me an opportunity to interact with employees across departments,
understand training psychology, and explore how data-driven learning strategies can make a
tangible difference.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Comprehensive View of the L&D Lifecycle: Understood the entire process of planning,
designing, implementing, and reviewing training programs. - Leadership Development Insight: Observed how mid-career employees are
empowered to take on leadership roles through structured programs like MCIP. - Skill in Data Handling: Improved my proficiency in using LMS platforms and handling
large sets of training feedback for decision-making. - Strategic Thinking: Learned how learning initiatives are aligned with broader
organizational goals. - Interpersonal Growth: Improved my communication and collaboration skills through
interactions with trainers, HR leaders, and program participants.
Future Endeavors
Building on the valuable experiences and insights gained during my internship, I am now more
determined than ever to pursue a career in Human Resources with a focus on Learning and
Development. I aspire to work on designing impactful learning strategies that not only
enhance individual capabilities but also drive organizational growth. In the future, I aim to
explore areas like digital learning platforms, behavioral training, and leadership development
programs. With continuous learning as my core value, I am excited to contribute meaningfully
to shaping agile, future-ready workforces in the evolving corporate landscape.
